I can’t stop planning another trip. I’ve already mapped it out and just going to start working on fine tuning it. Problem is, it will take some time. So, here’s the plan: across France (that huge chunk of a country) but heading more west than my recent south-west route. Going to slip through Switzerland, Austria…
Pilot Information
When I started constructing this site I did so to provide useful information to pilots who may wish to fly to some of the places to which I was visiting. As time has gone on I have used it as a diary for myself as well as to tell people my opinions of the places…
Going Home, Part One
If you’ve read the most recent updates you will know that our planned date of arrival back in Jersey was Friday 28th August but that was scuppered by weather in Germany (and a tiny patch of weather at that). Still, it was the first time that the weather has stopped us flying throughout the whole…
Jersey Soil….
When we arrived at Mainz Airport this morning at about 0845 local time the air traffic controller, Martin, was outside on the car parking area beside the tower talking to the German Border Police who had come to greet us. We were slightly late at arriving at the airport; no doubt that didn’t go down…
Saturday 29th August 2015
While sitting in my hotel room in this sleepy village outside Mainz City I managed to update my posts but there is still a lot to do. I’ll do those when in Jersey….if I ever get there….. Last night, before going to bed I stepped outside the hotel to look at the sky. It was…
Prague Buskers
Every city has them and every tourist city has hundreds of them: buskers. When I studied in London I used to travel on the tube to university on the district line…there were a couple of guys who used to play and sing on the line from time to time and they were excellent. Prague has some…
The Many Faces We Met On Our Travels
We met lots of faces on our travels….here’s photos of some of them……
Marooned in Mainz
From hotels kissing the shoreline, from fresh fish and local delicacies …..Zulu Delta is on the parking stand at Mainz Airport and we are simply too tired to venture out of this tiny little village to go into the city of Mainz…so our supper comprises just that which we could get at the local Esso…
Stuck in Germany
It was all too good to be true; we have dodged rain, we have escaped thunderstorms and we have swerved developing towering cumulonimbus and always managed to stay one step ahead of the weather. All of that was about to change….
Prague: Day 2
Prague is a bustling town with all the main sites in very close proximity to each other. Provided you don’t act like the total idiot tourist, the place is very safe, honest, charming and inexpensive. Again, people are generally very happy and friendly.
Heading Home
I tried to upload more posts last night but without success. The steam-driven internet was taking ages to upload photographs which made it simply impossible. We’re off in a few hours. Going to fill my fat belly with breakfast first. Forecast is not good. Head wind of 35 to 40 kts….that is going to slow…
Latest Video – Elba Island to Salerno, mainland Italy
Editing up the videos and getting them on line in time is proving difficult. We are already on the eve of our departure back home and this flight seems like an age ago!
Playing in Prague
Our first full day in Prague began, as has every day, with a hotel breakfast. Why does one stuff oneself on such occasions with things you would never dream of eating at home? I was even tempted to cook myself some waffles when I saw the waffle machine and bowl of waffle milk. I exercised…
Last Memories of Vienna
On our last morning in Vienna we got up early, had breakfast and headed for the Spanish Riding School to watch the magnificent horses rehearsing at the school.
Touch Down in Prague
“Golf Alpha X-ray Zulu Delta, you are number two: follow traffic on final to runway 23 Right” came the controller’s voice from the tower of Letnany Airport, Prague……..

Vienna. A city of culture, history and architecture
On arriving in Vienna (Saturday) we were very tired. It has been a long flight and bed was calling. I ventured out and wandered around the Museum Quarter which is a stone’s throw from our hotel.
Massive Storms, Beautiful Coastline and a Pig’s Ear of a Landing
Yesterday we flew from Dubrovnik to Vienna. This was a long flight, about 4 hours 30 minutes in total but which we broke into two sections, landing in Zagreb in Croatia after 3 hours 10 minutes for coffee and fuel. Could I have made it in one go? Probably but why run the risk?
